Baby Take a Bow is working with a family close to their hearts this summer to help one of the studio’s first young dancers, 4-year-old Meera, to fight what remains of a brain tumor. Meera is now enduring chemotherapy and radiation, and looking at a long road of rehab to regain her motor skills. Meera’s family and Baby Take a Bow hope that, with some help, she will be walking—and dancing—again soon.

Baby Take a Bow will host Twirling for Meera, a fundraising event, on Sunday, August 12, to help ease the financial burden for Meera’s family. Meera was diagnosed with an anaplastic medulloblastoma tumor next to the cerebellum. The tumor was successfully removed during brain surgery in January 2012, but the anaplastic nature of the tumor calls for chemotherapy and radiation to deter cancer cells from spreading. Because of the tumor’s proximity to the cerebellum, Meera’s movement, posture, and balance were impaired. 

“Meera and her family are an inspiration to me every day.  The love that Meera has for ballet and Baby Take a Bow just radiates from her. I cannot wait for the day when she will be dancing with us again and I am eager to help her and her wonderful family get back on their feet,” said Kristen Ramirez, owner of Baby Take a Bow.

During Twirling for Meera, Baby Take a Bow will host free ballet workshops from noon to 2 p.m. The studio will donate 10% of purchases and fall enrollments to Meera and her family. Donations are highly encouraged.
