Dance in the Parks

Dance in the Parks is a performance company whose mission is to bring free, professional dance performances to new audiences in the most accessible venues in the Chicago-land area-neighborhood parks. We hope to expose audiences unfamiliar with dance to the art form as well as to local performers and choreographers in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.

As fundraisers to benefit our summer performance season, we frequently offer beginning ballroom dance classes at venues throughout the city. The classes hour-long introductions to a specific style of dance. No experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome. See our website for additional information www.danceintheparks.org

  • MAY 13
    Ballroom Dance Class Fundraiser
    May 13 to May 27

    Dance in the Parks is offering 3 introductory ballroom dance classes in order to raise funds for our 2011 performance season.
    Our experienced instructor, Lamar Lockett, was a Chicago finalist for ESPN’s World Salsa Championship, and has over 2,000 hours of social-dance teaching experience. It will be a low-pressure, introductory class for all ages and abilities. Bring your dancing feet!
    LOCATION: Indian Boundary Park, 2500 W Lunt Ave, Chicago, IL
    Classes will be held in the Indian Boundary Park Cultural Center Ballroom
    DATES: FRIDAYS, MAY 13, 20, & 27 6:30-7:30 PM
    STYLES:
    • May 13 - American Tango
    • May 20 - Swing Dance
    • May 27 - Merengue
    Single class: $15/person
    3-class series: $35/person

    Single classes can be purchase with cash or check at the door or in advance.  3-class series must be purchased in advance or at the door on May 13th, only. All proceeds support Dance in the Parks’ 2011 Summer Performance Season.
